At Acton Gardens Primary School, SMSC—Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural development—is central to our curriculum and the school ethos. SMSC aims to nurture well-rounded, thoughtful individuals by embedding values and life skills that are essential both inside and outside the classroom.

Spiritual development encourages students to reflect on their beliefs, values, and experiences, promoting self-awareness and empathy. Moral education guides pupils to understand right from wrong and make responsible choices, while Social development fosters teamwork, communication, and a sense of community. Cultural learning helps students appreciate diversity, understanding and respecting various backgrounds and traditions.

SMSC is woven throughout our curriculum, from literature and history to religious education and personal, social, health, and economic (PSHE) education. This holistic approach prepares pupils to thrive in a multicultural society, equipping them with the empathy, integrity, and open-mindedness they need to become compassionate, responsible citizens.
